Matayoshi Kobudo Kata by Tomohiro Omura Sensei
Published: August 27, 2027
Matayoshi Kobudo is a general term referring to the style of Okinawan Kobudo that was developed by Shinko Matayoshi (1888–1947) and his son Shinpo (1921 - 1997). After Shinko Matayoshi passed away in 1947, his son Shinpo continued his father's teachings. In the 1970s he started a dojo in memory of his father and called it the Kodokan. Today, Matayoshi Kobudo is split into several branches.
The Okinawa Karate Information Center has published a lot of movies on YouTube for the 1st Okinawa Karate International Tournament that took place in 2018. I collected the Matayoshi Bo and Sai kata performed by Tomohiro Omura Sensei from the Matayoshi Kobudo Kodokan Honbu Dojo in Naha.
